Sparks Scribe Pricing FAQ: Plan Costs and Is It Tax Deductible

Published 3 November 2026

In short: Essentials is $15/month, Vault is $20/month, Safeguards is $39/month, all GST inclusive, with two months free on annual billing. As a sole trader, a work app subscription is generally the kind of expense the ATO treats as a deductible business cost, but confirm your own situation with your accountant or the ATO.

Here is the short version. Sparks Scribe has three plans, all billed in Australian dollars and all GST inclusive. As for tax, a subscription you use to run your support work is the type of cost sole traders usually claim as a business expense, but Scribe cannot tell you what you personally can deduct. That bit is between you and your accountant or the ATO.

What each plan costs

  • Essentials: $15 a month, or $150 a year (two months free). AI shift notes with voice input, all note templates, NDIS-coded invoicing including travel, expenses and custom support codes, weekday/evening/weekend/public holiday rates, calendar, roster, client records and reports.
  • Vault: $20 a month, or $200 a year. Everything in Essentials plus Xero sync, service agreements, the Document Vault, the Receipt Vault and the full kilometre log.
  • Safeguards: $39 a month, or $390 a year. The compliance tier, with real-time incident capture and guidance, incident reports, per-client risk profiles, restrictive-practices flagging and consent form signing.

Is the Sparks Scribe subscription a tax deductible expense

If you are an independent support worker running your own ABN and invoicing clients yourself, software you use to do that work generally falls into the category of a deductible business expense. A shift note and invoicing app you use to run your sole trader business fits that general description.

We are not your tax agent though, and this is not tax advice. Whether you can claim the Scribe subscription, how you claim it, and what else you can claim alongside it depends on your individual circumstances. The safest move is to ask your accountant or check current ATO guidance for sole traders before you rely on it at tax time. Your Scribe invoices and exported reports are there to hand to your accountant either way.

Frequently asked questions

Do the prices shown include GST?

Yes. Every Sparks Scribe price, monthly or annual, is GST inclusive. There is nothing added on top at checkout.

Can I claim my Sparks Scribe subscription on tax as a sole trader?

Software you use to run your support work as a sole trader is generally the kind of cost the ATO treats as a deductible business expense. We cannot confirm what you personally can claim though, so check with your accountant or the ATO before you lodge.

What happens to my data and notes if I do not subscribe after the trial?

Nothing you created during the trial is deleted. If you subscribe later, whether straight after the trial or down the track, you pick up exactly where you left off.

Is there a cheaper way to pay than monthly?

Yes. Paying annually gives you two months free on every plan: Essentials is $150 a year, Vault is $200 a year, and Safeguards is $390 a year, instead of paying month to month.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind after subscribing?

If you are not happy in your first 14 days on a paid plan, you get a full refund, no questions asked. There is also no lock-in contract, so you can stop whenever you need to.
