In short: Sparks Scribe was founded by Kim Matthews, who owns two support providers and is mum to three children accessing the NDIS. She built it because support workers kept telling her the admin, not the work, was what burned them out, which is why Scribe focuses on handling shift notes and invoicing properly.
Sparks Scribe was founded by Kim Matthews. She owns two support providers and is mum to three children accessing the NDIS, so she has seen this world from both sides, running support services and managing her own team of support workers as a participant family.
Why did Kim build Sparks Scribe?
Kim built Sparks Scribe because support workers kept telling her the same thing, year after year. The actual support work, the part they loved, was never the problem. It was the admin around it that wore them down. Shift notes to write up after a long day, invoices to get right, records to keep straight for compliance. All of it piling up after hours, taking time away from the work that mattered.
So she set out to build something that handles the paperwork properly, so support workers can spend more of their time and energy on the people they support.
What does that mean for the app?
Because Scribe comes from someone who has run support businesses and managed a support team from the family side, it is built around what independent support workers actually need day to day.
- Shift notes you can speak or type, with AI Assist drafting from your own words and you always reviewing before it saves
- NDIS-coded invoices that handle weekday, evening, weekend and public holiday rates
- A calendar and roster, client records, a kilometre log and reports, all in one place
Scribe is built for the independent support worker running their own business as a sole trader and sending their own invoices. If you are a family member or participant looking for something to manage your own team of workers, Kim's sister app Sparks Flow, at sparksflow.app, is built for that side of things.
